THE 12TH CHAMGON KENTING TAI SITUPA

His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, Pema Donyo Nyingche Wangpo, was born in the male wood-horse year (1954) in the Palyul District of Derge to a family of farmers. He was found and recognized by H.H. the 16th Karmapa Rigpe Dorje.
His Holiness is a renowned Buddhist master. He is the main Guru of H.H. the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, in Mahamudra and is also responsible for training the next generation of Buddhist masters. On a more personal level he is a scholar, poet, calligrapher, artist, author, architect, and geomancer.
As a Buddhist teacher, he regularly tours the world giving teachings and empowerments at the request of various Dharma centers. These teachings are collected and published in nine books till now. His Holiness paintings are collected and published in four books, including: Meditation Art; Creativity: Magnificent Images Will Be Born; Awakening: Meditation Art of the 12th Tai Situpa; and Relative World, Ultimate Mind: The Art of the 12th Tai Situpa. A collection of His Holiness photographs, Eye of the Eye, was also published in 2000 in Taiwan. Most of these art works and His Holiness calligraphies were assembled in the book Collection of the Creative Art Works of XII Tai Situpa, published in 2004 in Taiwan.

H.E YONGEY MINGYUR RINPOCHE

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, an eminent master of the Karma Kagyu lineage, was formally recognized as the 6th incarnation of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa and the previous Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Under the tutelage of distinguished masters such as H.H Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, Saljay Rinpoche and Drupön Lama Tsultrim, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche received a comprehensive formal education and also received teachings from the Nyingma lineage through his father Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and other masters, including Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche.

At the age of thirteen, he completed a three-year seclusion. At the end of this period, H.H. Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa appointed him master of the monastic retreat for monks and nuns. In 2000, after completing his studies at Palpung Lungrig Jampaling Monastic University, he deepened his knowledge of Buddhist philosophy at Dzongsar Chökyi Lodro Monastic University. At the age of 23 he took the bhikshu ordination.

In 2006, he founded the Tergar Monastery in Bodhgaya, which hosts important events every year. In late 2008, Mingyur Rinpoche founded Tergar International and Tergar Asia, which cover Tergar meditation communities around the world. He is also the author of several publications related to meditation, such as « The Joy of Living, »

In 2011, he went on a solitary pilgrimage and returned in 2015 after more than four years of meditation in the Himalayan mountains.

Currently, H.E. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche is traveling the world teaching the « Joy of Living » and « Path of Liberation » programs. Since 2020, he has been supervising the Palpung study and meditation program » Discovering the Buddha Within” an experiencial learning program as part of the vast vision of his root teacher H.H the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa.

H.E CHUNGPO GYALTON RINPOCHE

The incarnations of « Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoches » are the spiritual leaders of the « Gyalton Kagyu » lineage, a sub-branch of the Karma Kagyu lineage. The 6th Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche, Ugyen Jigme Choekyi, was born in 1908 in the Chungpo Gyalton region, located in Kham, Tibet. He was a disciple of the eminent 11th Kenting Tai Situpa Pema Wangchuk Gyalpo and Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro.
The 16th Gyalwang Karmapa honored the 6th Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche by conferring upon him the title of « Khenchen » (great scholar) of the Kagyu lineage, in recognition of his high attainments and erudition. During the 16th Karmapa’s visit to India, the 6th Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche accompanied him and stayed in Sikkim as the Spiritual Master of the late King Tashi Namgyal until his passing in 1970.
In 1983, an auspicious event took place in Gangtok, Sikkim, when H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa formally recognized the young Chungpo Gyalton Tulku, aged four, as the incarnation of the 6th Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche. In 1989, he made his first visit to Palpung Sherabling, where he stayed for two years. Following his father’s wishes, he returned to Sikkim to pursue studies, choosing science as his main subject in college and university.
In 2002, in line with his aspirations, S.E Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche returned to the monastic seat of Palpung Sherabling to resume his previous activities. From 2003 to 2006, he was appointed as the Vajra Master of the monastic seat of Palpung Sherabling, taking on the responsibility of guiding rituals and religious activities.
Simultaneously, he deepened his philosophical studies at the monastic college before being appointed as the Principal of the primary school at Palpung Sherabling. Later, in 2014, he entered a traditional three-year retreat at the monastery’s retreat center.
S.E Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche received numerous teachings, oral transmissions, instructions, and initiations from H.H. Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. For several decades, Rinpoche has been teaching Buddha Dharma in many centers affiliated with Palpung Sherabling Monastery. He officially represents H.H. Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa on official travels and shares a deep connection with him as a heart disciple.
Since 2020, he has been one of the main teachers to transmit the « Discovering the Inner Buddha » study and practice program in France and other European countries.
Receiving teachings from him is akin to receiving teachings directly from guru to disciple. Speaking in perfect English, he imparts each teaching with words of truth filled with kindness and wisdom, in a direct, simple, and compassionate style. Attentive and well-informed about the issues of our century, he is particularly appreciated for his responses to questions from both the young and adults.
